Zach Dewey
Recruit Profile
Leader and coachable student of the game, evolved from attack to SSM, strong/aggressive on D a transition & scoring threat. Field lax and football 8+yrs, Box Lax 5yrs
Proven leader on the field, in the class room and in the locker room. Team captain, scoring leader and passionate player in the game and for my teammates. Driven to earn wins through hard work, dedication, sacrifice and team work. Evolved my game from attack (7 yrs) to SSM. Box lax has provided me with an opportunity to develop my game beyond attack and identify my passion for the aggressive and defensive side of the game. This combined with my comfort level with the ball has enabled me to be a strong defensive takeaway specialist with the capability to quickly transition to an offensive threat. Box has also allowed be to become a man down/man up specialist positioned as the crease defense or attack and manage the special team on the field. Outside of lax played varsity football for two years, Regional winner of DaVinci award for Destination Imagination, member all county choir and role in school theatrical productions. This fall has been a challenge for me, as I encountered my first injury that took me out of the game. During a drill at the end of a practice my finger broke and resulted in surgery. Even though the injury has taken me out of the game temporarily the time away from the game has allowed me to realize where my true passions lie and opened my eyes to the cliche that you never know when it might be your last play. This will be my mantra as I move forward. Now having the unfortunate experience of that play that ended a season, my dedication as I recover and move into lax season will include an effort to always give 100% in practice, games, locker room and school room. They all matter and all contribute to being and being perceived as a leader, and look forward to leverage my experience to encourage my peers to do the same.
