Winnie Ulland
Recruit Profile
Adaptable, defensive-minded player with strong lacrosse IQ. Coaches describe me as a hard-working, determined, strong player who leads by example and is always the last off the field.
I first picked up a lacrosse stick when I was very young, growing up in Boston, MA. After I moved to the Midwest when I was 8, I started playing for my local association. As a 9th grader, I started every game as a low defender for Blake's JV team. I love the intensity and physicality of defense and I take a lot of pride in disrupting an offense in either zone or man-to-man defense sets. I am a strong low-defender; I am comfortable playing high defense as well and I love the challenge of face-guarding the other team's best player when needed. After creating a turnover, I am equally comfortable finding a clearing pass or bringing the ball upfield myself. I know that communication is essential between defenders and the goalkeeper so I'm always vocal with my teammates.
Outside of lacrosse, I ski on the Blake Varsity Alpine Ski Team, and have lettered in skiing since seventh grade. I write for my school newspaper, Spectrum, and I manage the boys' football team in the fall. Outside of my school teams and clubs, I race alpine for Team Tonkawood, play club lacrosse, and volunteer with the Blake middle school soccer and lacrosse teams as an assistant coach, as well as volunteering with local non-profits. In school I am taking AP US History, honors math and honors chemistry, as well as advanced french.
