Samantha Mortimer
Recruit Profile
Aggressive, disciplined, vocal defender with a high lacrosse IQ. Multi-sport, coachable athlete who loves a challenge. Constantly striving to develop and increase her passion for the sport.
I started playing lacrosse when I was 6 years old and soon realized that it was my passion. Growing up playing on my town's youth lacrosse team, I was a leader on the field as well as a top scorer. I started playing club lacrosse in the summer of 5th grade and fell in love with every aspect of the sport. Club lacrosse gave me people to look up to, who I consider some of my best friends. In 7th grade, I decided I wanted to focus my time on being a low defender. Going into high school I played varsity as a freshman as well as started every game as a low defender. Some of my strengths include my communication, stick skills, ground balls, and transitions from goalie clears.
On the academic side, I am currently taking Honors Chemistry, Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Honors English, and Honors US History II. I strive to have an academic impact as much as an athletic impact. I have maintained Honor Roll since 6th grade. Some of my favorite classes include chemistry, english and digital communications. I am a member of Varsity Club, Peer Leaders and Give Back Club.
When I am not practicing lacrosse or working on schoolwork, I often volunteer my time helping coach my town's youth lacrosse program. I hope to help others develop the same passion and love for lacrosse that I have.
I have learned so much throughout my 10 years of playing lacrosse. Being a team player and supporting others are two main things that I have learned that have truly made me a better player and overall person.
