Luis "Michael" Calvo
Recruit Profile
I pride myself on being a resilient, hard working person, who always strives towards my goals despite any challenge I face. Coachable, dedicated Multi-sport athlete with a strong work ethic.
My goals and aspirations for playing college lacrosse are to compete at a high level and create strong bonds with my teammates. I have played lacrosse since third grade, and I've loved it ever since I picked up a stick. I pride myself on being a resilient, hard working person, who always strives towards my goals despite any challenge I face. Coaches have always been impressed with my coachability and willingness to listen to instructions and implement them into my game; a trait I incorporate to all aspects of my life. As a result of these traits, I excel in academics, as I am a straight-A student taking multiple honors and accelerated classes. In lacrosse specifically, I bring many dimensions to the faceoff position, as my stick skills and shooting ability allow me to be a threat on the offensive side of the field, and my defensive ability is not a liability when I have to stay on. Also, my lacrosse IQ is another strong point; as I pick up on tendencies and I am able to analyze the situation and make the right decision.

Michael is a gritty faceoff man who has the ability to win the draw to himself with ease. Often times he uses his smaller stature to get underneath opponents to scrap for contested loose balls and come up with possession for his team. He is comfortable in transition and fast break situations, while making smart decisions feeding, but also someone who can charge North/South to the cage ending in quality shots. Michael's athletic ability continues to improve, which translates into quicker exits on draws winning the ball to himself forward and backward, thus creating separation from his defender more times than not.

Had the pleasure of coaching Michael at the Under Armour Underclassman games. He was one of the better faceoff men at the event.

Michael has been a pleasure to work with and get to know. He is your old-school, no complaint, does whatever you ask type of kid. He is a technician at the Faceoff X and spends several hours a week trying to perfect his craft. I see a bright future for Michael if he coninues to work hard. The sky is the limit for him.
