Michael Cassano
Recruit Profile
I believe practicing isn't something you do once and expect to be good. It's the thing that you do every day in order to be good.
I've been playing lacrosse since I was five. From the moment I picked up a stick I have been a defenseman and I wouldn't have it any other way. Coaches and players that have seen me play say that I demonstrate an expertise in the fundamentals, have patience, am active with my stick and show a very high lacrosse IQ. I believe it's these qualities that have enabled me to start as a varsity defender as a sophomore, earn a slot as an All-County player as a sophomore, be recognized as one of Newsday's Top 100 Long Island players and to twice be appointed to the New York State Regional Lacrosse Team for Nassau.
Off the field, I am involved in community service activities such as lectoring at my church and volunteering with the Levittown Community Council. I am a leader in my school having held positions as class president, vice president of the National Junior Honor Society and I maintain a 4.0 grade point average. As a second sport, I also run cross country and have been distinguished as an all-county runner. When I'm not playing sports, volunteering, or doing school work, I work part-time at the local lacross store where I'm a sales associate and head stringer. In my downtime I enjoy reading (everything from Harry Potter to David Goggins), cooking meals with my family and hanging with my dog, Cole Porter.
