Kayla Thompson
Recruit Profile
I am versatile, coachable, aggressive and loud. I am extremely determined and growth oriented.
My lacrosse career started in seventh grade when I tried out for the school team. I had seen my family play the game as a spectator, once I fell in love with the speed of the game. I knew this is what I wanted for my future. My coach helped me find my passion to be a defensive player. I started lacrosse at an older age versing girls that started at a younger age. It was the thought of being at a disadvantage that at this moment I decided that I would work harder than ever before. Hard work and dedication would be used. In this time I played three other sports as well as balancing honor classes. With also participating in District Wide as a cellist. During the year of 2019, I joined the Brookhaven Bandits as a way to increase my skills. I have also taken a rigorous course load including Social Studies Honors (8th), English Honors (8th), Earth Science (8th), Living Environment Honors (9th), Global History I (9th), Chemistry Honors (10th). Some advance placement courses I have taken are AP Global History (10th), AP US history (11th), AP Biology (11th). I am also apart of Spanish Honor Society.
As a student athlete, I have learned to balance sports, academics, and extracurricular activities. I feel that because of this, I have learned time management and the sacrifices that come with being a well-rounded student. I understood in order for my devotion of the game to expand, there would be sacrifices needed. Overall, the work I have put in throughout my academic and lacrosse career has prepared me to take the next steps in becoming a collegiate athlete. All this work and time management balancing all these extracurriculars prepared me for the high school level.
I’m looking for a program that I can flourish in my academic interests as well as being a team player.
