Jack Ponzio
Recruit Profile
What makes me a special person and player is my ability to see the field and create oppurtunities for my teammates and be a humble leader at the same time.
I started playing lacrosse on a team when I was 4 years old but, before that I had a stick in my crib at all times. In 7th grade, I was the leading scorer on my JV lacrosse team with 35 goals and 20 assist playing the attack position. Then in 8th grade, I was the second leading scorer on Connetquot HS Varsity lacrosse team with 20 goals and 19 assist switching between the midfield position and the attack position. I am very confident dodging my defensemen 1 on 1 from anywhere on the field and comfortable with accurately shooting with my right hand and my left hand. Preferably, I like to dodge from behind the cage so I can get seperation from my defensemen and looking at my teamates cut down at me so I can visualize multiple teamates that are open on there cuts. I also play on the Connetquot HS JV volleyball team. This is my first season playing and I have started in every game since the first game of the season. In my freshman year of high school, I am taking AP World History. I have volunteered at my mother's agency, Devolopmental Disabilities Institute, also known as DDI. I have also volunteered at the Spring lacrosse camp for all youth Connetquot lacrosse players. The last thing I have volunteered at was the Bay Shore YMCA Challenger Athletics program which teaches kids with disabilities how to play almost every sport.
