David Salter is in his first season as assistant coach of the Lander men's lacrosse program. Salter was hired in June of 2020.

Salter joined the Bearcats from Piedmont after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Piedmont. In 2019, Salter helped the Lion defense set program records with 646 ground balls (35.89 per game) and 175 caused turnovers (9.72 per game). With Salter's help, the Lions won the USA South Tournament championship and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Prior to his stint with the Lions, Salter served as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst for two seasons. Working as the defensive and recruiting coordinator, Salter helped the Saints lower their goals against average from 17.58 in 2017 to 10.21 in 2018.

Salter played three seasons at Belmont Abbey, including two under LePore, where he was a captain as a junior and senior for the Crusaders. During his time at Belmont Abbey, Salter recorded three goals, four assists, 87 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers as a defensive midfielder. Before arriving in Belmont, Salter played one season for Howard Community College.

Salter is a member of the Latvian National Lacrosse Team and has competed in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Games in 2014 and 2018 and also competed in the FIL European Championships in 2016.

Salter graduated from Belmont Abbey in 2016 with a degree in business management and received his Masters of Science degree in organizational leadership from Mercyhurst University in May of 2018.
